If you can, I would honestly choose another hostel. This could be an okay option if you are very young and mainly looking for a cheap place to party, but otherwise I think you can find much better hostels for a similar price. My room was on the last floor (Balkan room), right next to the terrace. The windows are designed in such a strange way that if you open them, someone from the terrace could easily enter the room. At the same time, the room was extremely warm, so keeping the window closed wasn't really an option. The toilets and showers have no any light inside, so your choices are basically to use them in complete darkness or use your phone flashlight. There was also trash under the beds, and my sheets had blood stains. They had clearly been washed, but the stains were still visible. The biggest problem was the noise. People were partying on the ground floor, and because the walls and doors are so poorly designed, you can hear practically everything. The worst incident happened around 2am, when a hostel worker came and stood right next to our rooms talking extremely loudly with someone. I went to ask her to be quieter, but she was very dismissive and had a bad attitude about it. If you are looking for somewhere to actually sleep, this is a serious problem. The hostel is huge but there is apparently no proper luggage room where you can leave your things after checking out, which is also quite inconvenient. There are no padlocks provided for the lockers, so bring your own. There are no elevators either, which can be difficult if you have heavy luggage and are staying on one of the upper floors. The good things are the location, the common areas, and especially the kind man at reception who really helped us with everything. He was genuinely helpful and made the experience a little better. I understand that this is an affordable hostel, so I wasn’t expecting luxury. But basic cleanliness, working lights in bathrooms, reasonable quiet at night and a safe way to ventilate the room should not be too much to expect. If getting any sleep is important to you, I would look elsewhere.
I stayed here for three nights as a solo traveler for a weekend trip. The volunteer staff were kind and welcoming, the facilities were kept pretty clean, and the rooftop was a very nice place to spend time. There are I think 8 rooms of people, including the volunteers’ room, 4 bathrooms, and I believe 5 showers. I didn’t have to wait in line for the bathroom or shower because people were getting ready to leave or go to bed at pretty different times. I would definitely recommend earplugs and a sleep eye mask because the lights are automatic in the hallway so they are always on when someone is entering the room at night. I was on the top bunk of a three-person bunk, and I was in the Atlas room, with 6 people total. I see some reviews mentioning bed bugs, but I didn’t have that experience. They either took care of that issue, or they just weren’t in my room lol. Didn’t hear anyone from other rooms complaining about it either, though. Every Friday night they do a family style dinner for 4 euros, and I didn’t get there in time but people seemed to like it. The staff does planned outings to the beach or things like that. Pretty great experience overall. I did see a small cockroach in the kitchen, but it’s a lot of people using one kitchen and not everyone is going to leave it spotless, so I don’t really hold that against them. I think roaches are pretty common on the island anyway. I would definitely stay again if I were in Las Palmas.
My stay at this hostel was exceptional. The rooms were kept tidy and though it was the low season, there was a convivial atmosphere. The fridges worked well and the kitchen was functional! thank you so much. Grace, one of the volunteers during my stay was especially helpful and kind, giving me tips about where to go in Gran Canaria. highly recommend!
This hostel is just overall amazing and it has a very nice location in the old town of las Palmas. The rooftop terrace is just lovely to hang out at and you can meet many people here. Also the rooms are quite nice and there are big lockers to store all your things. I would definitely recommend going here and would love to come back one day ✌🏼
The hostel is great, great location. Very chill vibes, and a nice rooftop. They have daily activities. One of the volunteers, Marcela, made pancakes, dinner and a hike for us in the last few days. Very attentive. Would highly recommend this place
