Roque Nublo

In addition to its scenic trails, this striking geological site features an imposing volcanic crag.via Google
An 80-metre basalt monolith near the island's highest point, named for the clouds that frequently wreathe its summit and visible from much of the southern half of the island.
- Good to know
- best reached via the La Goleta trailhead; a short, moderate walk to the base viewpoint; go early to beat both heat and cloud cover

A majestic rock formation visible from almost anywhere on the island and one of its most iconic landmarks. Parking near the site is restricted, so you can’t drive right up to the entrance. However, public buses run from nearby towns (e.g. Tejeda) directly to the trailhead. Tickets cost around €2–3, and this is actually a safer option due to the narrow and winding mountain roads. The bus stops right at the entrance, and return services run roughly every hour. The hike itself is not particularly demanding, but be prepared for very strong winds, especially closer to the top. Good footwear is recommended, as the trail is rocky and uneven. There is very little shade along the way, so sun protection (hat, sunscreen, water) is essential. At the entrance, there is often a van selling small snacks, including ice cream and cold drinks. Keep in mind that there are no bins or toilets along the trail or at the top. Important: access to the area is limited and free of charge, but you need to book a time slot online in advance. Tickets are checked at the entrance. At the top, there’s plenty of space to sit down (on the ground) and take a break. The views are absolutely stunning and more than make up for the effort of the hike — on a clear day, you can even see Mount Teide on Tenerife. To avoid crowds and enjoy the best light, it’s worth visiting early in the morning or later in the afternoon, close to sunset. Overall: a must-see spot on Gran Canaria, combining an easy hike with some of the best views on the island 👍
Access was closed due to fire safety restrictions, which we only found out about when we arrived at the starting point of the hiking trail. Parking is also only available about 5 km from the location, which creates confusion for visitors. There is a lack of clear information.
Hiking to Roque Nublo was such a delight, as nature offers breathtaking views at every turn. The panorama from the peak is simply a dream. A must-do!
Lovely medium hike, If park in Griglia camping .. trough the woods and dam , up to Rock de nublo . Dont risk parking on the road ,, the marking are clear, for not parking,, And the hike from Camping are is actually nice.
Worth hike, check the timing before you start hiking for the bus. Otherwise long waiting.
